Byron Bay Sunrise

Pretty near every morning of the year, you will find the local surfers and board riders checking out the sea at sunrise. This could be a scene from anywhere along the east coast of Australia, but it was actually taken from the beach at Byron Bay. This location is a mecca for the surfing fraternity, and I took this shot around about 15 minutes after sunrise.

A marvelous moment-in-time capture, John. I think morning surfers are drawn to places like this, not only for the perfect wave (with less competition), but also for the special light and atmosphere that surrounds them. Your photo shows that so well... #11333669Gord MacEachern July 19, 2015

So beautiful, John!! I love the rays!! Of all the places we stopped at, I think Byron Bay was my favorite! They also had some amazingly good coffee!! Brought a bag home, then tried to buy some on line...seemed like shipping was a huge issue....a $16 bag of coffee would have cost $75 to ship! Needless to say, I said thanks, but no thanks! #11333978Nancy L. Green July 20, 2015
