Nice example of minimalism Art. #10679103Arthur Bohlmann May 02, 2013
Thanks for the positive feedback John & Dale. I am happy that my editing of this image worked. I had a heck of a lot of contrast to deal with. #10679344Kalena Randall May 02, 2013
Nice one, Arthur! The details in the hummingbird are really nice! #10679370Arthur Bohlmann May 02, 2013
Thanks kalena. Much appreciatedJeff E Jensen May 02, 2013
Normally, I think I would have suggested a stroke around the image to set it off from the BP background. However, I think I like it as it is. Very cool! #10679461Arthur Bohlmann May 02, 2013
Thanks Jeff. When I edited this image my attention was on the hummingbird and I left everything else alone. #10679496Rita K. Connell May 02, 2013
he looks a little angry...he must not like having his picture taken...LOLthis is an awesome shot. I like it a lot! #10679781

I like it a lot too, Art. However, if you make all the empty space completely white, it would look even better IMHO!!UB. #10680006

Thanks for the suggestion Usman. let me know what you think of the re-edit. #10680299Elaine Hessler May 03, 2013
This is beautiful!!! I am so jealous. I looked up this bird in my birdbook and your picture is so much better than what is in the guide. Gorgeous!!!I am going to take pictures of birds this weekend-there are a lot of warblers that migrate through Ohio and stop off at the shore of Lake Erie at this time of year. Do you have any advice for shooting birds? I've not been too lucky and it could be due to user error and/or equipment. Thanks!
Again, a beautiful shot of a beautiful bird! #10680699

Thanks for your very nice comment Elaine. I do a lot of bird photography when I can. I am fortunate to live very close to a great area where the birdies go to watch and photograph them #10680749Stephen Shoff May 03, 2013
Art, I think I see green color fringing along the entire left side of the branch. Is it really there? Did you try lens adjustments for chromatic aberation in your RAW editor? What lens did you use? #10680845Susan Williams May 03, 2013
Love the creative comp in this one, Art. I don't think I've ever seen one with nothing in the background. Nice! I dare say I've never seen such a chubby Hummingbird.Who is Allen? :) #10680848

Thanks for catching it Stephen. I will work on it again when time allows. I have a busy photography weekend I am getting ready for. Thanks Susan. I took this on a chilly morning very near the coast. Think the little guy was keeping warm. #10680870

I really like the minimalist look here and the way you decided to crop this shot. I can certainly see this framed on a wall.I don't see a lot of difference in the second post though BG is a bit lighter. #10681057

Great shot! Amazing he sat still long enough for you to get a picture. #10682019Peter W. Marks May 04, 2013
OK Susan W, the others have said it all about Art's hummingbird image so it will be my pleasure to fill in the blanks about the name Allen's Hummingbird. Charles Andrew Allen (1841- 1930) was a naturalist originally from MA and the hummingbird Selaphorous sasin was named in his honor.Teresa H. Hunt May 04, 2013
Beautiful! Rita's right, the bird looks a little angry. I love the minimalist look here. There is a off colored branch or stick coming in from the lower right hand side that could be removed, as it adds nothing to the photo. :) #10682143Susan Williams June 30, 2013
